After the Act
Sam and Mia, two writers at different stages of their careers, share the routines of daily life in Sam’s Berlin apartment. But beneath the surface of their affection, tension quietly builds until a casual remark about their friend Becca reveals a devastating betrayal. Over the course of a single day and night, the three friends face the slow fracture of trust, each drawn to choices shaped by guilt, self-preservation, and the fragile hope that love might still survive the damage.
Filmed in Berlin, AFTER THE ACT is a quiet, emotionally disarming drama rooted in arthouse and slow-cinema traditions. Drawing on Éric Rohmer’s observational intimacy, Hong Sang-soo’s understated emotional honesty, and the raw, lived-in immediacy of Berlin mumblecore, the film’s improvised performances create a sense of authenticity that feels “genuine, rather than staged, allowing audiences to experience the silence, tension, and heartbreak.”
— Alan Ng, Film Threat
The film has been praised as “uniquely intimate cinema” by Bill Mousoulis of Senses of Cinema, while Ken Greaves of IndyRed described it as “a savage emotional rollercoaster” that “will break your heart as you watch, and challenge you to pick up the pieces.”

“Storytelling that asks you to lean in rather than sit back.”
— Jeff Turner, Action Reloaded
“Delivers an authentic and surprisingly affecting look at the fragile nature of human relationships.”
— Jeff Turner, Action Reloaded
